World Food Championships 2018 – Orange Beach, AL

My Golden Ticket-winning Sonoran Dog! My first time making Fry Bread and I nailed it!!

WFC 2018 was held November 7-11 at The Wharf in Orange Beach, Alabama. My entry in the Taste of the America Contest (AZ) came in second place and secured a Golden Ticket to compete in WFC 2018 in the Sandwich Category. Above is a photo of my Sonoran Dog with Prickly Pear Green Chile Salsa served open-face on fry bread. It was as delicious as it sounds and certainly a taste of Arizona!

So on November 7th, my husband Ken (aka a Boy Named Sous Chef), my son Christopher (a “foodie” in his own right) and I set off for beautiful Orange Beach, Alabama for the competition. We had been practicing for 3 solid months on our sandwiches and were ready to compete!

Ciabataletta turned in. The judges loved that dish, in fact it scored the second highest in the entire sandwich category! Now on to the next dish which is our signature we call “Hog Wild”, a Wild Boar Sloppy Joe with Wild Boar Bacon, beer cheese sauce and deep fried jalapenos on a pretzel bun.
